Over a dozen members of the Comox Valley Naturalists Society were working in the Courtenay Riverway Park on Good Friday, removing invasive broom and blackberry. The Comox Valley Naturalists are stewards of the park. Over the years the society has planted native trees, shrubs, and flowers, as well as controlling invasive species. Regular broom and bramble removal helps the Society in their aim to establish a native Garry oak ecosystem in the park.
