A Lapland longspur was found at the old Farqueson Farms site.

A redhead was seen off shore at the end of 31st St.

A Pacific golden-plover was at the Little River Ferry area. It was also seen recently at Kin Beach.

A gray phase gyrfalcon was seen on Headquarters Road. A rock sandpiper was at the mouth of the Little River mixed in with dunlin, black turnstone, black-bellied plover, and sanderling.

A golden eagle seen earlier in the week on the Tsolum River was relocated. It was seen on a bar in the Tsolum River just a bit before the big old barn that is almost on the Dove Creek Rd.

One saw-whet owl was located again on the Millard Creek Trail. A mute swan was seen off Mansfield Drive. Rusty blackbird continue to be seen on Headquarters Road.

Four rusty blackbirds were at Casawood Farm on Headquarters Road (at Bridges Road). A mourning dove was on the road that runs parallel to the Dyke Road in Comox. It was also seen earlier in the same place on November 3, 4, 5.

A Wilson's phalarope was seen at Kye Bay. A Hudsonian godwit was at Oyster Bay, where there were also purple martins nesting in the boxes at the shoreline park.

Comox Christmas Bird Count (CBC)
117 species were seen on the day of the Comox
Christmas Bird Count. Notable sightings included 1 yellow-billed loon,
1 tundra swan, 1 greater white-fronted goose, 30 Brant geese, 2 American
kestrel, 1 greater yellowlegs, 1 spotted sandpiper, 103 ancient murrelet,
1 mourning dove, 1 barred owl, 1 short-eared owl, 3 horned lark, 1 hermit
thrush, 3 northern shrike, 5 yellow-rumped warbler, 1 palm warbler(from
eastern North America),1 Lincoln's sparrow, 5 brown-headed cowbirds,
and 1 American goldfinch. A rufous hummingbird seen on count
day was the first winter record of a male in BC. Other species seen during
count week were long-billed dowitcher, slaty-backed gull (from
Japan), Hutton's vireo, swamp sparrow (from eastern North America)
and western meadowlark, for a total of 123 species, by far the highest
count ever.

A ruff has been seen in the Courtenay Lagoon Park and the Courtenay Slough.

A jaeger was reported at Deep Bay chasing gulls.

Two Ross's geese have been hanging out with the domestic geese near Portuguese Joe's Fish Market on the Dike Road to Comox.

A long-billed curlew was seen and photographed at Croteau Beach in Comox, feeding among yellowlegs, mallards, widgeon, pintail, and green-winged teal.

An aberrant form of spotted towhee was videotaped at a property on Curtis Road in Comox.
